Need mags for my SLR 104FR. Magpul is cheap but bad reviews. Would prefer not to spend $50/mag.

All nice Russian mags in the mag carriers. 4 for $12. I should have bought hundreds. Got some nice plum ones too.

Yeah it's been 20 years since I bought a drum or mag.

You're kinda boned.

The Magpul will probably be fine for range use though. At some point their better M3 mags will come out.

Otherwise you're stuck looking for deals on the classifieds.

Ive bought these and they worked well. Not true circle 10's but work. The steel is only in the feed lips, not in the mag catch area like surplus mags. But again, they have worked fine for just range mags in both my 74's.

Cheaper for the same ones but never bought from them

Years ago, APEX had a great deal on black painted, East German Bakelites for $5.99???  Something like that.  I bought a bunch.  I bought some Citristrip and cleaned those babies up nicely to their original glory.  74 mag prices are insane right now.

Just to go back down memory lane. I got a bunch through a group by years ago.It might have been this site . A guy  ordered a shipment of 1000 brand new East German  Bakelite . It was $3 or $4  a mag . I think he kept a bunch  for himself and sold off the rest through a group buy. I got 25 of them . I didn't even own an 74 at the time. I picked up a bunch of them east German 4 pack deals with mag pouch/ cleaning kit  for  next to nothing back in the day. And some one was selling a 10 pack used and mixed between Bakelite and black polymer Bulgies  for cheap.Came in really greasy . Damn those was the days. WarDawg

This was back when we had 300 dollar WASR's and tables full of uncoverted Saigas under 200 though.

God, I wish I'd blow a few tax returns on those back then.

In 20-25 years people will be reminiscing about the good old days when AK74 mags were only $30 and when you could buy a WASR for only $600. Or worse yet "remember when you could evne buy an AK factory built in a commie country".   "I should have bought a million of them back then!"
It's all relative, if you don't buy what's available now, you may regret it in the future

Or it could go the other way.  I built ARs because crap like Sandy Hook kept happening, and I thought they would go up in price or be banned.  If I had waited until now, I could build the same rifles for half the cost.  I certainly can't sell them for what I have in them.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the mags from CDNN? I need some for my SGL31 and these are a lot more attractively priced than surplus mags anywhere else I've found. I just don't want to buy junk that won't last. I'm a buy once, cry once type of guy. I see they say made in Bulgaria but they aren't circle 10, 21 or whatever else numbers that are produced.

Does it have steel locking lugs? I know they state the feed lips are steel reinforced.
