Just leave it shut and paint it. May leave a little mark when installing the tube but is an ak and that is what they do.

i park and use molyresin on AKs.
if you aren't using actual firearm coating, it's gonna come off eventually. even cerakote comes off eventually. put it in a position where you get maximum coverage, and expect there will be wear as you use the rifle and clean it.

I point them to the sky. Quick park and paint.
