Hello. I have an sks that my dad bought me back in the 90's. He removed the wood and installed a synthetic stock way back when. I decided to put wood back on it as I don't like the look of the stock.
Anyways I bought a chinese wood stock at the last gun show and tried to install it. I am running into an issue where one of the metal pieces that runs across the stock is coming in contact with the barrel/receiver. Any way to fix this? Its about an 1/8th of an inch off.

Military stock and Commercial stock don't interchange.

Some stocks drop in, some do not. I have 2 short shanked barreled SKS's that the stocks won't interchange. You may have to run a file over the bolt a few times to get to fit right.

Well I got it fit into the stock. I ended up taking an hr or so shaping that metal cross member until it fit. I then realized I didn't have a mag well, follower and spring so this project is not on hold until I can find one. I looked on ebay and the prices were quite high. Maybe the next gun show I will find something..
