If you can find an extra top cover, remover rear sight, add a small section of rail then you can have a top cover option.
Sarco had old incomplete and unassembled top covers cheap for like $10 but now out of stock, these were easy to modify. You may be able to find others as the kits and parts are somewhat plentiful. |

I bought a used Golani that has a an AK scope rail added to it, It works very well.

FAB defense (cheap) and B&T (expensive and rare), for example, make railed hand guards. I have the fab defense. They seem solid.

I have the FAB defense hand guard. I also have a side rail scope mount. I still need to tweak my build a bit and paint it, but it fires.

You can send your gas tube to Matt at Northwest guns and he can weld his low profile rail to it.

I am in the same position ,and need a red dot mount . I have been trying to figure out weather to mig weld a small rail on the top cover or the gas tube . I wonder what would be the better set up , and neither a used top cover or gas tube is readily available or inexpensive.

Already have the Sig Romeo 5 RDS and just ordered the fab defense polymer railed handguard for 67.99 from another vender .

So now I will have 2 handguards. I just snagged a UTG aluminum railed hand guard on gun broker for $69.99 on gunbroker . I will install both and see witch on I like better and then sell the one I didn't like as much.

UTG rail worked great ,had to cut off about 4 inch's of the rail so it wasn't so close to the charging handle when you cock it .
