Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Izhmash AK quetion...

I purchased an unfired Izhmash Saiga AK 7.62 about 10 years ago. It is stamped "made in Russia by Izhmash" but has "Hesse St Paul MN" engraved on it. (I've heard that he didn't has the best of reputations.) I'm wondering if anyone knows if Hesse built them or just imported/distributed them? Any info is appreciated.
