Old man at work has a few “Chinese aks” he bought at Rose’s back in the day for $189 a piece. Says they have wood thumbhole stocks

He says he’ll trade me Straight up for a plane Jane PSA M4.

Not sure if it’s gonna be stamped or milled or straight cut or slant.

This is a no brained right?

Also where should I look to get a decent furniture set for around $150ish?

I used to hate the wood, well the thumb hole part it has always been uncomfortable, on my MAK90. After seeing what they are asking for these now no way I'm ever changing mine. I'll buy another AK to mod if the itch gets that bad.

And yeah it should be a no brainer to trade for a PSA M4...

I’m a lefty so it seems the thumbhole won’t be great for me.

I’ll have to find something somehat reasonably priced

The Choate MAK-90 stock is more comfortable for a lefty, if you can stand the looks of it.

You could probably hack up any country’s stock and make it fit, but why would you? Chinese rifles only look good with Chinese stock sets, and you’ll pay $200-300 for one IF you can find one at all.

Take my advice for what you paid for it, and either sell the MAK-90 and buy a more traditional-looking rifle, or leave the Chinese rifle alone.

Going to pick up the rifle tomorrow morning.

from the pic he sent me I think it’s a NHM91

From what I’m reading I’ll have to remove a rivet in the mag well to accept regular mags.

This still a pretty good deal on my part? It doesn’t not have the bipod with it

I’m thinking of getting a beat up set of Romanian rpk furniture and fitting it and refinishing it

So I picked of the NHM today. I took the rivet out and put a Pmag in it. I’ll get some steel surplus mags soon. I guess I’ll grt some surplus laminate furniture and fit it to this gun. If anybody has any please PM me.

I’m new to Aks so I’m looking forward to learning from you guys

Picked it up earlier. Bought a Pmag while I was out and took care of the stupid rivet when I got home. There was just a tiny bit of surface rust on the bottom side of the receiver but a little CLP and steel wool took care of that. I think I’ll keep this thing if I can just get some different furniture on it.
