What wood type did you get and how close is it to original? Any pics?

I got cherry. It looks pretty close to the original. A little lighter. Could be stained. I don’t have a photo server anymore to post pictures.
He has pictures of the cherry handguard on his post. |

Those look nice - hopefully in spec so they "drop in" without mods.

did you have to supply the metal bands or were you able to purchase the handguards with the bands?

I supplied the bands. His price included assembling them and shipping.

Anyone got a source for the needed liners/bands or a sacrificial wood ARM handguard set for the bands? I rarely see them come up and when they do the prices are pretty high for even trashed sets..

If you don't have a donor pair I am not sure where to find them. |

View Quote For some reason I thought the hardware on the wood HG's were different from the plastic ones... someone indicated they were in fact the same and directed me to Numrich, and I got a pair of donor HG's for this... looks like they have since gone out of stock. They were ARM handguards and looks like the listing has been removed. The AR Handguards are listed but out of stock. I received them today, bipod cut and in much better shape than I was expecting for the $33 I paid for them...
