I have an IMI Action Arms Galil that is Cal .223 REM Marked. Model 392. No barrel markings.

Is this rifle really 223? I’m finding this model as being marked 223 in several places online, but Galil’s in general referred to as 223/556.

Is Wolf 223 ammo the go to for this rifle?

Thanks

Wolf 223 would be fine, as long as it runs the gun. Velocity/power wise, I find the russian steel to be a little under powered.

It’s 5.56 rated.  The .223 marking are commonly for the era as work around to permit sales in countries that forbade military caliber weapons.

The barrel markings should be 1/12 and under the handguard. I probably would just stay away from steel case and just run .223/5.56 m193 55gr. Which is what it was made for. You have a legacy Galil that hasn’t been made in about 30 years.
