If I remember right, 720 rds can is 20 rd paper packs (no stripper clips) and 550 rd can is on strpper clips.

Yes, 550 is on clips, 720 is in paper packets.

7.62x39mm Type 56, steel case, steel core ball, corrosive primed, made by factory "61" in 1966.

Exactly what he said.  This is Chinese surplus ammo, usually with Vietnam War dates.  The Chinese were the main suppliers of ammo to the N. Vietnam Army and downwards to the V.C.  You would find a little amount of small arms from the E. Bloc but for the most part the AK and SKS platforms as well as their ammo came from China.  And believe me they sent out a lot!
