Is it a KBI Hungarian AK? If so those are the post ban rifles and come with either a regular gas system or the shorter AMD gas system.

A little more info about how it is marked and what features is has would help, but sounds like a post ban import.

I think KBI imported some pre-‘89 Hungarian AKs, too.

Edit: never mind, literally 45 seconds on Google provided the answer. Michael Kassner changed the name of his import company to KBI specifically after the 1989 AWB.
