Anyone try these AK stock adapters from AK-Builder.com? They seem to be a less expensive option to the Vltor.

https://ak-builder.com/index.php?subcats=Y&status=A&match=all&pshort=N&pfull=N&pname=Y&pkeywords=N&pcode_from_q=Y&search_performed=Y&q=ak+stock+tube+&dispatch=products.search&security_hash=b0cf19263e9ceacb26f9a7afd2ec92cb

Also, I've never ordered anything from AK-Builders before are they reputable?

Thanks

Yes, AK builder is reputable, I have ordered a parts kit from them.

I have never used that particular adapter, but I think there are better alternatives out there, like the CNC warrior and bonesteel designs for folding M4 stocks or the canis or rifle dynamics for fixed stocks.

Thanks for all the links, the problem is that I own a Mak 90 and a lot of the adaptors won't work, like the Rifle Dynamics. I like the Bone Steel folder and they do make one for the Mak but they are proud of it at $150. I also worry that adapters like the Canis and Rifle Dynamics will make it hard to use the iron sights. The adapter from Ak Builders sits lower like the Vltor and if I have to drill and thread a new hole to match my Mak 90's rear trunnion I wouldn't be afraid if I mess up a $40 adapter vs the $100 Vltor.

AKbuilder is solid, buy with confidence.

As for other adaptors... IMO if the rifle isn't a folder from the factory you're better off sticking with Vltor or other non-folder options. I like the ability to fold the stock, but unless it's designed to fold from the start, folding adaptors, all of them, just look clumsy and ugly.

I appreciate rifle Dynamics...but their adapter sucks....it uses tiny screws..I broke one...many others have...also...more attaching stuff to attach stuff to attach stuff...u want a different Buttstock in the end... ...that happens to slide on a tube...
The vltor or akbuilder is just that..a tube that bolts on with 2 screws....
Get it..try it...probablbay be fine...
A tube...and a stock...Vs. an adapter .then a tube then a retainer plate...then castle nut..then the Buttstock ..
See all that extrap stuff? vS... a tube ..and a stock ..

The ak builder one says chinese, dunno if that means its meant for chinese rifles, or made in china, but you should stick to something made for chinese rifles, the tang is longer and the rear screw is in different place, can be difficult or impossible to make something else fit depending on design.

Edited to add,
Just read their site, their us made ones will not work on mak 90, and the "chinese" one they sell, they themselves kinda bash on in the description of their other ones, and it being made by guntec, i wouldnt expect much, but it still should probably work if youre on a tight budget.

And yes I am very proud of our bonesteel folding stocks, but thats not why they cost $150, those buggers are expensive to machine and we dont cut corners, 6061 hinge block, 7075 swing arm, and forged 7075 mil spec extension tube.

Ive been trying tp convince people of this for years, there is no reason for the weakened, heavier and longer stock required by a thread in adapter, if its not threaded into an ar receiver it shouldnt be threaded in.  I had to discontinue our threaded folding stock adapter for a long time(only had it for those wanting irregular extensions attached such as pistol tubes)due to people buying it instead of our integrated version, so they could save $15 bucks and use a tube they already had, needless to say nobody was happy with the threaded in tube that was much longer, heavier, and weaker than the integrated model.

They do, but not bad, I use the Canis adapters, and they do bring the line of the stock up pretty high, I run Attero rail mounts on those rifles and height is perfect through the optic. Even the Magpul fixed stock brings the stockline up a tad too high.

If you don't want to deal with that, you have to get something that doesn't include the lower provision to use a locking plate, something that sits below the tang. Not a ton of options there, shame because it's really the best place for an AR tube.

I'll have to say from experience this is true, those folders are the most brute tough overbuilt adapters i've ever seen, i'm pretty confident that if you ran out of ammo you could bash zombie skulls all day long with it and it would still work smoothly.
