Hi all. I just ordered a PSA AK-P, and they have the rail on the dust cover. I'm trying to figure out which TA44 to put on it.

Is the TA44 at "AR15 height" too high for an AK? Or should I get the "low" TA44? Or a regular TA44 in a "low" mount? Or a "low" TA44 in a low mount? I called Trijicon's technical people and they had no idea either.

I don't want to blow the money if it's going to be too low. Anyone mounted an ACOG on a dust cover top rail before?

There isn't any sight that will be too low on an AK. The lower the better. An AR height sight will definitely be too tall. My AK-V, which has the railed top cover, has an MRO in a low mount on it and it's still not as low as I'd like it to be. I also had an RMR in a low mount and that wasnt even too low. Neither can co-witness the iron sights. Get the lowest mount available for the TA44.

ACOGs work fine. Don't overthink it

Wow, doesn't that give you a chin weld though?

I'm saying you get used to it. I've been shooting combloc optics for 15+ years now and never notice cheek vs chin. It's an exaggerated issue
