A while back I saw steel-cased 7.62x39 hollow point ammo fired into ballistic gel. There was no expansion. Does it also not expand if used for hunting or defense?

The hollow point in that cheap steel case stuff isn't for expansion.

No, they don't.

Hollow points are for handguns, soft points are for rifles.

If you want expansion in 7.62x39mm, get soft points.

As stated, soft point (such as Barnaul 7.62x39 125gr SP) will expand. It's quite nasty too.

Is it for accuracy? If so, does it tend to be more accurate than regular fmj?
