Just got my stamp for a 10/22 SBR. Using a tactical innovations receiver, 10" threaded barrel, charging handle and a few other TI small parts. Ruger parts are trigger guard and bolt. Plan to upgrade those down the road as funds permit.

For the stock I planned on using a butler creek folder. I cut down the stock and got everything inside . But the receiver is kinda loose inside the stock.

For others who have done a 10/22 pocket rifle using this stock what other mods do I need to do ? Bedding I guess would be one thing or using a shim.

Appreciate any feedback or if someone has a better stock idea lmk.

I'm planning on useing a Butler Creek folder also, but my stamp is still a couple of weeks out. (Guess this is a tag for answers)

Have you looked at these stocks ?

Yeah saw those and the blems are pretty cheap. Hate the look of the forend though. Really would like to try and use the BC folder .

I went with a knoxx axiom on my two pocket rifles. I cut the fore end down. I tried the AGP first, but there is nothing to hold onto besides the mag, and anyways it was destined for the takedown. The knox collapses like a AR and has a QD sockets besides the standard studs.

Yeah those do look better than the APG stock.

Yeah those do look better than the APG stock.

And obviously, on the Knoxx, the LOP can be adjusted. The buttler creek.....not so much.

I used a factory hammer forged bull barrel cut down to 7" for my Pocket Rifle. I opening the barrel channel to accept the bull barrel and using auto body fiberglass filler to fill in the hollow cavity left from shortening the stock. The barrel is supported by the fiberglass block and the fit of the receiver is solid in the stock. It is a drop-in fit, but once you tighten the screw it is a solid fit.

The Knox looks like a good stock. But I wanted to make mine as compact as possible and not being able to fold the stock defeats that purpose.

Yeah yours was inspiration for my gun. Going to get a receiver pin kit from Rimfire Technologies and it should fix the rear receiver issue.

Can't wait til it's done so I can shoot it !!!!

I think the Choate folding stock looks way better than the Butler Creek. They are pretty much the same, the Choate just looks better.

I've found Choate products to be well made. But I have to disagree with you about the looks of the Choate folding stock. I think the buttstock portion of the Choate looks very cheap compared to the metal Butler Creek, but to each their own.

I'm no help on the butler creek folder, I got the blemished agp folder, it fits very tight & I didn't see any real blemish.

Waiting on my stamp to put on a RT 4.5" quantum threaded barrel then I'll see about getting my OEM barrel cut & threaded.

I'll get some pics posted later today. To blend it in a little, I used truck bed liner applied with a sponge for a little texture.

How do you like the Burris ? Is that a fastfire ?

Yes, its a Burris FastFire III w/ 3 MOA. I wanted a compact reflex type sight and this fit the bill perfectly. I also have one on my Ruger MKIII. I highly recommend them. Auto/ and adjustable brightness setttings. I have no issues in bright daylight either.

The barrel is from Clint Beyer. Its his "ultralight" target barrel that I had him make for me. It measures 4.75".

Chopped the Butler Creek stock today, hopefully my measurements are close once the Form 1 arrives and I cut the barrel to 4.5”.

Cut the stock, filed off all remaining checkering, rounded the edges, filled the now open end of the stock with fiberglass, sanded fiberglass, painted the fiberglass patch with flat black paint. Crappy cell phone pictures…………

Thanks! When I first looked at the stock after I made the cut I thought 'OMG what have I done'. The plastic was really easy to work with and sanded easily.

Sorry, I forgot about posting the pics, but it looks like someone else picked up my slack.

I still have a little cosmetic work to do where the block meets the stock, but it's structurally sound for now. For texture I used truck bed liner applied with a sponge. When I get some spare time I'll sand the texture off, fill the gaps and apply the truck bed liner again.

For the final fit to the barrel I sanded it to shape with a sanding drum on a Dremel. The action fits very solidly with the block sanded to the correct hight for the barrel to tighten up against.

The barrel is pulled tight against the fiberglass block by the stock screw.

The block was made by using a Dremel to roughen the inside of the stock for adhesion i made a form using a small piece of thin wood taped to the inside and outside of the stock. I used some fiberglass auto body filler to form the block.

I found that the fiberglass block did not adhere to the stock material and it came loose. I used some 2-part epoxy to hold it in place and it has not moved since. I didn't want to paint the entire stock just for durability reasons. I didn't want to worry about the finish if it gets bounced around during use or bumped in one of my overstuffed gun safes. I painted just the top corners of the block only where you see it on next to the barrel.

Again, I apologize for not getting the pics up right away when they were requested, but yours came out looking great.

I used an Ruger AC556 front gas block assembley for mine with the integrated front site blade to close up the front of the butler creek stock

With a SWR Warlock.

The short sounds like a pneumatic staple gun. Neat little gun. Weighs about 3.5lbs with the sight. I may try a HTA integral next time...

I know some people who run real short barrels have spotty reliability sometimes and I was wondering if the ported integral was picky on ammo.

Very nice, can we see a better pic of the barrel and mono stack machine work? As far as the un reliable shortys the problem is with bolt slap against the hammer slowing it down enough to not cock it.. A lot of people would raidus the back of the bolt and that usually solves the issue, if not then some lighten it as well.
