Interested to see the photos.  I've considered trying to dye ACU to a "tropical" color palette but figured it would just end up a blob of the same color.

By any chance have you tried the RIT Taupe color as done in this thread:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_10/327407__ARCHIVED_THREAD____Dye_ACU_.html&page=1#i2937141
Not a "tropical" color scheme but just for comparison.

This result from using Dylon Olive Drab was also interesting as a "tropical" color scheme

I bought some of that Dylon to give that a try but would like to see your results as well.  Still don't have the items I want to try yet. I need a source for cheap used ACU clothing

I have been bitten by an urban camo bug and i just Rit dyed some of my old ABU pants Pearl Grey. I am pretty happy with them. I think ABU/UCP is great urban camo anyway, but the grey just adds another option.

Hmmm I just happen to have 2 brand new 100 round SAW pouchs in ACU that are begging for this.

ACU pouchs drying. Look real good! Thanks for posting this. I was just going to use the old standby dark green. But I like this much better

I did a set of ACU using Rit tan... and it came out very much like MARPAT desert.  I got the water very hot, and even the velcro took the color.  I'd post pics, but I'm not at home and don't have any with me.

I did some green the other day. Hot water, vinegar, 1/2 Kelly Green, 1/2 Tan, 1/4 Taupe. It came out much brighter and darker then I expected. After I washed them I soaked them in a 50/50 water/bleach mix and I think some of dye came out. I then let them sit in the sun for a few days. I am going to change them out with some other pouches on my hiking bag and training ruck to get some good wear on them. They will still be usable up in the mountains and I think they will be decent overall after they age a little.

Just wana suggest an idea. I think it would be neat to tack the RIT threads in a folder. It seems like there is enough interest to do so.

Tried dying a Banshee in A-TACS AU with RIT Apple Green today. Soaked in hot bathtub water in a Rubbermaid tub outside for an hour. Didn't do much but did make it greener.

After:

After with A-TACs FG pants:

Will try for a natural lighted outdoor shot tomorrow.

Can we get a sticky with all the gear dying threads in it? This seems to come up a lot, and it would be nice to have pictures of everyone's results in a single thread.
