Are you pressing it out or trying to do this w/o the proper tools?  What method are you using?  We need this before any one can advise you

I have a home-made pin pusher to remove the pins without beating them...

...and I use a gear puller to remove the FSB:

Same here in South MS  Our gun smiths dont know squat about AKs, but thats cool.

I remember a guy using 2 Vices, a 2x4 and a big hammer; but i cant find the thread.

Curious, what do you have going on over there?  What are you trying to accomplish?

I'd say use the vice if you can. Get something like a hardened pin that's smaller than the pins in it, and use the vice as a makeshift press. I did this a couple weeks ago and it was a bitch to get the gas block off, but my pins knocked out without too much trouble using a hammer and hardened punch. Installation was infinitely easier as I used the vice to press the pins back in.

I had to beat the hell out of the pins to get them out. Then I had to beat the hell out of the FSB to get it off and then the gas block.

Then I had to reverse the process.

Why are you guys beating the pins out when you can make a pin pusher and avoid all the frustration?

I might be wrong but I heard the pins are taperd and only come out one way. Any one on this ???

My pins beat out without too much trouble, I tried that before I went for a pusher. Also, my pins were not tapered at all. Calipers got the same reading in thousandths of an inch on both ends of all pins.

Yes, the pins are slightly tapered. They come out from left to right and install right to left, as viewed from behind.

no, the pins are not tapered, however often a sloppily drilled hole will have the insertion side wallowed out slightly and then the side of the pin that gets hammered  impact may flare.  This may give the impression of tapered pins/holes, but it is not by design.

I use a press for tight FSB/GB and an air hammer for not-so-tight ones.

When removing parts like this, I like to put a little Kroil on them to help loosen things.  Doesn't seem to hurt anything.

well, after "hitting the christ" out of the pins on my ban-compliant FSB, I finally got the pins out.

But now the FSB is stuck. I've applied lots of penetrating oil - and i've taken a hammer and hit the christ out the FSB, too... but no dice. The FSB just doesn't want to move. Any tricks out there to get off frozen front sight blocks?
