How many universities can claim to have their team mascot running around wild on campus?  The University of Florida can!

This little fellow and three of his bretheren can be found about a half a mile from the stadium in a lake on campus.  Unofortunately, they had to take the larger gators out of the lake as too many people fed them and they became dangerous.

Oh, and Go Gators!!!!

Herbie Husker.

Nebraska's Mascot.

I dressed up as him for Halloween the first year my sister attended UNL.

And I now wish I had pics.

Is this the same "Gators" that had a pic of a crocodile on their team magazine years ago?

Yup, apparently some idiot at an ad agency could not tell the difference.  I am proud to say that I noticed it the instant I picked up the thing.  Crocs <> gators.

No prob, I remember it well since it gave me ammo to use against my best friend in HS who graduated from FL, rabid Gators fan.  He took it well, as you did.

Folklore
According to folklore, the ibis is the last form of wildlife to take shelter prior to a hurricane and the first to reappear after the storm passes. The Sacred Ibis was also an object of religious veneration in ancient Egypt, particularly associated with the god, Thoth.

My college had no sports team.

So I guess the mascot was the ugly girls.  All 63 of them. (engineering school)

Go Capitol College ugly girls!

Though you can get some different results if you turn google "safe search" off.

At least a few years ago here were some out in Mac Forest a little off campus.

University of Missouri-Rolla.  And yes, we've got a lot of them running around.  Note: our mascot has a gun...  'nuff said.

BTW - are there any other current/alumni UMR guys around here?

Ashley Judd?
'

You got it.  She's a big UK basketball fan, she shows up to the games quite a lot.  Usually sits with the coach's wife, but the tv coverage ends up showing her as much as the coach himself, lol.

Tubby ain't much to look at.

Then again, you probably won't have to look at him much longer.
