EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- An estimated 250 to 300 brawling people spilled onto downtown streets early Sunday morning, but no injuries were reported and only one person was arrested, police said.

The crowd started growing about 2 a.m. outside the University Club on a main street, police Capt. Norm Curtis said. Police from nine departments in three states responded to the series of fights that erupted in the city on the Ohio line near both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
"Basically they were all fighting among themselves," said Curtis, who based the crowd estimate on video from police cars and witness and officer reports.
Most of the people whose identifications were checked by officers were from the Youngstown area, police said.
"We pretty well know everybody," Curtis said. "Our guys knew very few of these people."
He didn't have exact numbers, but said several were cited for "more or less littering, throwing bottles on the ground."
A police report indicates some bottles were thrown at officers, but no one was hit.
