And the rest are here on Gilligan island.
Wtf? The rest are only 2 people. Why did the early episodes not say them? Especially with Maryanns fine ass. |
|
I understand that Dawn Wells used to sign autographs "The Rest"
|
|
In the start of the series, the song had "and the rest" but later on in production, that line was changed to "the Professor and Mary Ann".
|
|
|
And why was it GILLIGAN'S island?
Anyone with a brain could see that Thurson Howell owned that thing. |
|
I can never make up my mind - Ginger or Mary Ann?
Fuck it. Get both! Shit, after long enough on the island, even Mrs. Howell might look pretty good. |

ETA: Ginger is hot and high maintenance...while not bad if you plan to hit and quit it would cause longterm problems on an island. |

STILL Mary Ann. Dawn Wells has aged MUCH better than Tina Louise.
Google it. Dawn Wells could still qualify for BOTD pics so I shouldn't put them up in this thread. However, Tina Louise pics would qualify for COTD. (Cadaver Of The Day) She's not dead but doesn't really look very alive. |

Why were the earlier episodes black and white?
How many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop? How come WrongWay could always make his way back to the island, but could never bring help? |

My children have fallen in love with the show. They DVR it and don't watch Disney anymore. Now if I can just get them to watch Gunsmoke.

Without resorting to Google, I believe that is correct..I believe in real life, Gilligan would have ended up on a spit very quickly. As for Marry Anne, yes over Ginger in a heartbeat. Remember, Mary Anne could cook but Ginger could not and I'm quite sure Ginger would have likely been a dead lay. |

FWIW, my FIL went to school with Dawn Wells and says she was not as sweet as her character Mary Ann

I heard that Tina Louise was a successful stage actress on Broadway and was not interested in TV. To get her to sign, her agent told her she would be the star - it would be her show.
One day when the cast was reading through a script she stopped and asked, "Why does Bob get more lines than me? After all, it's my show!" Everyone looked back at her as said, "Why do you think it's called "Gilligan's Island?" |

The end of the theme to Gilligan's Island was changed by the request....actually the DEMAND of Bob Denver. He thought it very unfair that Dawn Wells and Russel ( RIP, Sir! ) Johnson participated as much as anyone else but were unbilled in the opening credits. He told the producers that if they didn't include the Professor and Mary Ann in the credits, then HE wanted to be listed with the REST and have his name taken from the cast list in the theme song.
Stand up dude!!! |
|
P.S. Mary Ann.
To me, Dawn Wells will always be the most beautiful woman that ever walked the planet. |

It was later changed I know. I was talking about the early episodes. Do you wink at men in real life? The reason Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson were billed as "The rest" for the first season was a contract thing. Actor contracts are very specific on who will be billed first, the order everyone else will be billed, and how they will be identified ("Starring," "With," "And," "Introducing," etc). While we see the show as a seamless ensemble now, at the time the contracts were signed evidently the producers thought the characters of "The Professor" and "Mary Ann" weren't as important as the other five characters or, probably even more likely, the agents for Dawn Wells and Russell Johnson didn't do as good a job negotiating their contracts as the other five actors. (Makes me wonder if those two were also paid less). According to Dawn Wells, it was Bob Denver (ole Gilligan himself) who got it changed to "The Professor and Mary Ann" in the second season. Bob Denver's contract specified that he controlled how he would be billed and he told the producers that if they didn't "upgrade" Wells and Johnson from "The rest" they would have to take out the specific reference to Gilligan in the song to match how those characters were introduced. (i.e., Gilligan would be one of "The rest.") Since his character's name was in the title, and his contract gave him that control, the producers had no choice but to upgrade Wells and Russell. So, any other Gilligan's Island trivia you want to know? (How many boats were used as the Minnow? Where the pilot was shot? Who was "Bunny?") |
|
Bunny was the "original" Ginger. She can be seen on the bow of the Minnow as it leaves port in the opening credits.

Who was fucking who on Gilligan's Island?
The Skipper was fucking Gilligan, and had been since the war. The Professor was fucking Ginger and Mary Ann, but never a threesome. Ginger thought she fucked Mary Ann once, but it was actually Mary Ann who fucked her. Mary Ann tried to fuck Gilligan, but no dice, the boy was loyal to Skipper. Thurston Howell fucked Ginger on occasion. He promised her a long-term movie contract. Nobody fucked Mrs Howell, except for maybe that Japanese infantryman who didn't know the war was over. Wrong-hole Feldman showed Mary Ann something new. Questions? |
