WTF is up with this crap.... I have had an (Important) update that has failed to install for the past year on my computer.

Anyone else have this problem?

Im still running Vista, thinking about doing a re install

If you've been able to function, just run Windows Update, right-click on the update and hide it. No install....

not sure if its whats causing it, but i am unable to stream movies over WiFi to the xbox and i hate dragging out the 100' cat 5 cable

You should clean and re-install periodically to help clean up the registry errors from uninstalls and to remove old files.

In before 'Mac is where it's at' fluffers...

Next time get a second drive and install it. Install the operating system, all updates, your programs and get it set up just the way you like it. Pull it and put it away. Then you only have to clone that drive to the one in the computer to get it right back to stock. Granted you would have to reinstall anything installed after the original setup, but hey life sucks...

First of all, I have never heard of that registry cleaner. (Im a system admin @ a large University) If you need to use a registry cleaner, check out "ccleaner"

-When ever you play with the registry always, always, always make a backup of it. Registry cleaners are not perfect.

-
Next, check out the control panel> programs and features
-Look for anything pertaining to Microsoft Office Access Runtime and Data Connectivity 2007
-Uninstall any of the updates.

Try again.

If not. It might help to download MS office 2007 SP3 straight from the MS website and manually install the package. Windows Update has always been very finicky.

Now if that doesnt work. Might want to try to re-install office all together.

OP, this will probably be your next step. Auslogics is ok but it only does registry errors. CCleaner is more advanced and as such more dangerous in inexperienced hands. It IS a better product tho used correctly.
