Nikon D700 with 300mm/f4.0 AF-S Nikkor lens.  ISO 2000, 1/3200 sec. f4.0.

What part of the state are you in?  No bluebirds have shown up here yet.

You guys might be correct, but when they fly, they don't seem to have a barn swallow split tail.  In fight, they behave just like a Chimney Swift.  

My neighbor and I have guessed about this too, we think they are Bluebirds.

Any way to tell for sure????

just look at google images. the barn swallows have orange above their beaks. blue birds dont.

Lots of color variation from males to females and younger ones but now that I got google fired up not seeing any with brown heads
