My wife called me and said I got a notice to go pick up a Certified letter from the Post Office. What kind of shit comes Certified? The only things I've seen Certified are notices that you're going to jail.
Update: turns out it was nothing. I owe the state like $150 bucks. Please return to your regularly scheduled Arfcom. |

Could be notification that you have the AIDS, or that you won the publishers clearing house sweepstakes. either way, watch your cornhole when you pick it up.
anything that someone wants to be able to document that the item in question was picked up and who picked it up.
There are very few good things that come by certified mail in my experience. |
Usually stuff people want documented that you got. You do the math.
It's a trap. Dog the Bounty Hunter is going to be waiting for you when you go to the Post Office to pick it up.

Quoted: You ARE the father! SURPRISE!!! Remember for next time, fake name fake address. |
Court summons, audit notification, class action info, letters from your landlord saying he's going to terminate the contract, Ed McMann's prize patrol....
Whatever you do, keep us in the dark for 3-4 days before you open it. |
Divorce papers...... You may wanna get home quick before she has a chance to clear you out

In for the let down.... Eviction notice My in-laws own the condo my wife and I live in, I pay them for "rent" directly. I was just with them this weekend, I don't think they'd just send me a letter. Quoted:

Nothing good. First post. I have recieved certified mail once, and hope it never happens again. |
In my (limited) experience, mostly legal papers.
ETA: I should clarify, the only experience I have hearing about Certified Mail is from working a couple years as a Bailiff...so I probably have a distorted impression. |
right now the wife is packing and empting the accounts before you get to the postoffice...
All kinds of things including layoff notices, though not always bad.
My wife and I were worried when she got one from her job. Turns out the 'tards sent her some FMLA forms to fill out- the same ones she got via regular mail a couple days ago. Talk about wanting to wring someones neck! |
I have never accepted certified mail or a registered letter unless the sender communicated to me ahead of time that something I wanted would be delivered by such means.
If they want me bad enough they can come to my house and knock. |
It's an important letter from Publisher's Clearinghouse. You should rush right out and get it, it could be worth billions.
For the worst things, you're served.
My guess is it's some bullshit class action suit related to something you've bought in the past. |
When Cabelas sends me a jumbo hard back catalog and I'm not around to accept it , I'll get a cert letter to come and pick it up !
Somebody owes you money and they just want to make sure you got it!

We've gotten stuff certified from teh Chevy dealership, it was nothing more than a really expensive flyer being hand delivered to us. They wanted us to come in and buy a GM vehicle, this after the bailout......... We as it was tossed in the garbage.

Quoted: Wife is standing in line at the USPS now to pick it up. Can the wife sign for a certified letter addressed to you? |
Quoted: Nothing good. yeah, let the state have that inheritance from a long lost relative. |
