I am putting together a 3 gun upper from components I have laying around and could use some barrel opinions... I have a 14.5 m4, 16" m4, and a 20" Govt profile(very light) barrels to choose from and will be using a burris Tac30 optic. If you had these three barrels sitting in front of you, which one?
I would sell all of them and get a Lothar Walther or Noveske barrel. (Or WOA/Nordic/Loki and any of the other half dozen manufacturers who make a rifle/midlength gas system 1:8 precision barrel)
If I had to pick one, the 20" would be it since it would have the lowest recoil impulse and allow the fastest (and possibly the most accurate) shooting.
16 inch better ballistics than 14.5, not so long cumbersome as a 20. 75% of the shooting in a average 3gun match is under 100 yards even for rifle. FT Benning 3gun for example: only had 2 long range stages at out the 10 stages every year.
16inch Adams Arms
Of those? Probably the 20.
I have an 18" and a 20" on the rifles I use for 3-gun.
What do most of the winners shoot? 20 in barrels.
