18 years old, state resident as far as I know.
There may be others.

No special requirements other than not providing a firearm to a person known to have a prior violent crime conviction, and the person must be 18. Mind you, these are STATE requirements, federal statutes notwithstanding.

South Dakota Codified Law Chapter 23-7 Firearms Control

South Dakota Codified Law Chapter 22-14 Unlawful Use of Weapons

I might just require they show me a CWP to make sure I have my bases covered.

I don't sell a lot of pistols or black guns, but this is what I do.

Handgun???  must be 21, yes??? Long arms = 18yo.

CCW permit not needed for purchase, only to carry CCW.

If no CCW permit, then require DL.

But the permit is somewhat proof that they are allowed to own a firearm.

Yep, it's just a more sure way to make sure I'm not providing a felon with a handgun

Yeah, because no felon would be able to laminate a piece of paper and falsify SD's high tech CCW card.

Wise to cover your hiney especially selling handguns. On Facebook the SD gun sales groups are chronically besieged by guys looking for handguns. If their demeanor doesn't offer a clue to their age or maturity, studying their Facebook page usually offers good insight.
