Folks,
Thanks so much for this. You've given me three pages of vibrant reminders that from Panhandle to Peninsula, The Sunshine State is still home even if I've been far away for 2 decades. |

View Quote What's the story with that last one? Looks like a bridge deck had a catastrophic failure on at least one of the support members while it had a car on it? That would cause a little bit of a pucker factor.... |

View Quote I've seen that last pic many times and every time I think to my self that guy has big giant galvanized steel balls. I'm sorry but that would scare the crap out of me to walk out there like that. |
|
And despite all that, I'm still amused by the piece of window screen tied across the front of the car on the bridge. The front of that car could be a "Florida pic" all by itself.

This was taken by a friends 6 year old son (and Batman).

Wearing a properly fitted harness and lanyard is one thing but not that. |

Shows how powerful the Sea is. I remember the Long concrete break waters that were sticking out from the beach there a "few" years ago. There is very little left of them. |

Quoted: The Cape Romano house belonged to my father for years, from the early 90's up until a few years ago when he sold it. We still own a good chunk of the land out there, but sold the house off. That was a really cool place to stay, I've got a lot of great memories there. We used to catch tarpon off the point while sitting in the bucket of the tractor. I remember fishing that area in the summers with my grandfather in the late 50's early 60's before I moved to Florida. We would drive over from Miami and access the island across the old swing bridge and camp on the beach. Paradise lost. |
