The Original S.O.E. Gear NSW Helmet Ballast was designed in conjunction with Naval Special Warfare operators to combat helmet droop caused by the heavy-forward-mounted weight of NVG’s. It attaches directly to the helmet by way of adhesive Velcro on the helmet’s surface. The NSW Helmet Ballast securely carries the MS2000 Strobe and six each, CR123 Lithium Batteries and AA/AAA Batteries in two separate compartments. The Strobe compartment features a reinforced window that allows for operation of the MS2000 without removing it. A grommet hole provides an attachment point for the strobe’s lanyard. The battery compartment has a Velcro closure that secures a double-sided nylon tray with elastic loops for holding batteries.
The Original S.O.E. Helmet Ballast is one of the most brilliant ideas we have seen in a long time. Let’s face it; cantilevering weight off the front of your head causes fatigue on even the thickest-necked shooters. This is especially true when running a heavy binocular unit like the PVS-21 or PVS-15. A good four-point chinstrap will help, but to really maximize the weight distribution, you need a good counterweight. For years, operators have been making make-shift ballasts for their helmets by taping washers and other weighted items to the back of their Kevlar. OSOE has taken the concept a step further into something truly functional. In the field, we are all carrying extra batteries for every device on our person. The OSOE NSW Helmet Ballast simply takes the weight of items alredy carried and distributes it to a more functional location. The addition of a strobe pouch is even better because it provides a secure location for mounting an IR strobe in a visible spot that is out of the way of other gear while readily marking your location for air units. We are extremely excited to be offering the Original S.O.E. Gear NSW Helmet Ballast. Since we first got them, one has found its way onto every helmet in our inventory!
The Original S.O.E. Gear Battery Pouch is a small, but important organizational tool for your operational gear. Batteries are the life blood of gear and we all know how they tend to run out at the most inappropriate times. The OSOE Battery Pouch lets you keep six each CR123 and AA or AAA fresh batteries securely and conveniently ready to go on a pull-out tray. The batteries are secured via a heavy elastic webbing. The small pouch is perfect for your 1st line gear and attaches via a small MALICE clip (not included) to any PALS webbing. This is one of the most functional battery pouches we have seen and we are excited to offer it to our customers!
The Original S.O.E. Gear Strobe Pouch is designed to carry the MS2000 Strobe Beacon. This signaling device has been in service with US Special Operations Forces for years and continues to provide valuable life-saving service. The MS2000 Pouch is an open-top unit the snugly holds the beacon while allowing the signal lens to be exposed. This lets the strobe be seen in both IR and visible modes. The OSOE Strobe Pouch features a reinforced open window that exposes the on/off switch, as well as a grommet for securing the lanyard. The pouch attaches to any PALS webbing via a Short MALICE clip (not included). These pouches are small enough to fit on your 1st line gear, and work very well on your third line gear for signaling to air units.
