CREE Q5 Drop-In LED Lamp for Surefire Lights
TNVC  [Industry Partner]

Q5 Cree LED Lamp

If you want to get the most out of your Surefire light, you owe it to yourself to install one of our drop-in Q5 Cree LED Lamps! These retrofit lamps are easily installed in the field without tools and dramatically increase the light output and performance of your standard Surefire light. We used to offer these lamps only in our Multifunction Tailcap kits, but their success has led us to release them as a stand-alone item! Most drop-in lamps on the market are one of two types: tightly focused “thrower” units for long distance illumination, and wide angle “wall of light” units used for indoor operations. While both have their uses, neither address a general tactical need that compromises between the two types. This is where our Q5 Cree LED comes in. It is a perfect balance between distance capabilities of a bright hot spot and a useable amount of light provided by generous side spill. We can think of no other drop in lamp that gives you the ability to see in the shadows of indoor and outdoor environments. Our lamps fit perfectly with Surefire lamp covers and allow them to screw all the way down with no gaps.

We feel these lamps are the best drop-in modules available and are very proud to offer them to you. Because they are LED units, we recommend using a Surefire light housing with aluminum head to help with the heat dispersal. If you install one in a standard G2 housing, make sure you give it a rest during prolonged use so you do not overheat the polymer head. A word of caution: once you try one, you will find yourself replacing the lamp of every Surefire you own.

This Item is ITAR controlled and cannot be shipped or carried outside the United States without express written permission from the United States Department of State. We do not export outside the United States. PERIOD!

Why is a simple LED drop-in ITAR controlled? It's essentially just a light bulb, nothing tactical or militarily sensitive about it at all. Or is it a policy you apply to all your products? I guess it doesn't help that I'm stationed in Guam and too many consider it to be a foreign country.

Also, where are these drop-ins made? How are they different than the ones offered by the likes of Solarforce or Thrunite or the various other China light companies? I'm not knocking your product or your company, in fact I really hope you can give me the inside scoop on these as they seem to be cheaper than the Malkoff drop-ins. Are the TNVC drop-ins a truly a rugged and reliable alternative to those Chinese-made LEDs? The Chicom LEDs can be very bright and a heck of a bang-for-the-buck upgrade to an old SureFire but the ruggedness of the electronics is not suited for weapon lights and thus I have a Malkoff in my M951.

We ship nothing overseas period and it's our policy.

As for the lamps OUR unique design with the reflector and made in Asia. As for reliability, Pat Rogers has been reporting for over 2 years now 3 of his student guns (also in last years SWAT Magazine) with now well over 150K rounds through without a hick up. That is just for starters, we have thousands of our lamps out there on 90% weapon platforms for many years now long before the competition was even started.

Way back when we saw the need for a high output lamp when no one was producing one in any production capacity....We went to Surefire with our LED lamp design and they were a bit busy. Cool, we understood that and most other electronic companies were not interested or wanted an initial 50K build. At that time we looked elsewhere and never looked back.

Hope this helps and thank you for the interests.

So my understanding of your overseas policy is that it is your store policy then (which is fine, nothing wrong with that) and not related to the product itself? I guess if you sold duct tape and ball-point pens you still wouldn't ship overseas.

I'm happy to hear this has been tested on weapons with real use, looks like I may purchase a couple if I decide to be cheap and not buy a Scout Light.

Correct. No duct tape overseas. They are just going to have to figure out how to fix stuff without it.

No problem, banana leaves backed with coconut tree sap will suffice.
