sweet! I'm actually thinking of stepping my game up and trying a Leatherwood M-1000 or 1200. I await a range report.

No trigger job yet. I'll have to look into one.

I use a SAW grip and lightened the trigger spring along with smoothing the hammers catch. My trigger is smooth and predictable now. I am not the type who likes a 1 pound trigger ,I like to feel whats going on as I pull back and safty is a consern when going to light also. The FAL trigger is fairly nice to start with so doing very little other than the trigger spring can go a long way. |

Gary_P,
Nice FAL you got there. I used the para rear sight one one of my previous 21" FALs and liked it a lot. Please tell us some more about it. Thanks, EMSflyer |

thanks
well I will start by saying it is an abomination of parts I selected from 8 or nine kits I had built up. first the barrel. I got in on the FALfiles PARA kit a few years back when FWRA (god rest his soul) had a group buy and I bought into it. the barrel is a 21" new **insert South American country** barrel from a new PARA kit. I bought an 18" Steyr barrel from DSA and had Moses build it for me, due to the machining necessary for the receiver......traded that one off......I kick myself just thinking of it any way, the barrel is spectacular.I added the STG58 gas plug and new DSA handguards as well. The lower receiver is a STG58 lower with FSE internals. The rear sight was an added sight I bought from Gunthings cause I really liked the para rear sight. The bolt carrier and charging handle are Israeli. The stock is a STG58 stock the was in damn near new condition when I butted it up to the lower. The Belgian Flash hider was new from DSA. I also added a T-48 trigger guard to it, you cannot see from this picture, but it is there. I also added an Israeli magazine release. It also has a SAW pistol grip, the real saw, not that cheap fake shit TAPCO tries to pawn off as tacticool. The Bi-pod is from another STG58 corpse and is PERFECT. the added weight is cumbersome, but in prone.........Heavenly The upper is an Imbel receiver I got in a trade for an AR (16" Bushmaster with an AK74 brake) actually I got 2 receivers for the AR. one was built into the Para, the second was this monstrosity. out of all the rifles I have ever owned, I would trust this rifle with mine and my families lives. It has never failed me and always met paper where I aimed it. It has eaten every type of ammunition I have fed it. it fires it and asks for more. I absolutely love this rifle. His name is FRED |

can someone explain to me why some metric rifles have Open gas block/ front sights that look like the inch pattern front sight?

Israel came up with their own beveled closed type in the 60s. The Brits, Aussies, and Argentines stayed with the older open type. |

Do you know where i can find similar wood? The Holland butt-stock on my rifle is ultra rare, so not much of a chance to find one like it. The forearm is from a Canadian C1A1 FAL. These can be found but it will be hard to find one in excellent condition. Your best bet is to buy the repro stuff if you want really nice looking wood. There are a couple of companies making reproduction FAL wood furniture (see link). If you don't care about scratches and dings, I'm sure you can look over on FAL Files Forums and find some well used original wood. http://ironwooddesigns.com/IWDHome.html |

First FAL pattern rifle, for which I have lusted since I was... probably 12
I spent a lot of time looking for pics of one with a PWS FSCFAL muzzle device. So hopefully this will help anyone thinking of getting one. Just got the rifle, stripped and cleaned (a lot of greasy crud, now gone). It was someone's kit build on a DSA receiver and I got some help from an industry guy on this forum (much appreciated) getting a minor issue with the takedown lever squared away. Yet to fire it though... can't wait. http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/7162/dscn1531h.jpg http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3922/dscn1525f.jpg http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/5015/dscn1526s.jpg http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/4126/dscn1529r.jpg http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/5379/dscn1530b.jpg |
