well here it is, my first FAL.  Brazilian Imbel kit from Chile, built by Rich at CGW.  DSA reciever and DSA para lower.  Barrel cut to 17.3 inch, para length.   The other lower is the Imbel that came with the kit.

Love the Elcan on your FAL.

Is it hard to get a decent cheek (chin?) weld?

Is eye position very critical with that optic?

Nice set up!

Thanks.  No, the cheek weld is not hard, its a lot easier than you'd think, and the eye relief is just about perfect.

Yep. They line up "almost" perfectly.  The magnifier is a touch lower I think, but looks fine when looking through.

I bought a Para kit from Gun Parts Guy. No ser#'s! Belgian Type 3 para lower. DSA stock set, rear sight, top cover, bolt carrier, HG's and recoil springs. 18" Imbel barrel. "0" TE. Bright & shiny bore. Black paint over parking on lower & barrel. SAW grip. Inch vertical locking lever. Side mount front sling on DSA HG's. I bought a DSA Type 1 receiver without CHC from court I think is his username. I changed the Flip-Up Gas Plug Grenade Sight to a standard quick release gas plug, changed the inch locking lever to a metric, I didn't like the smooth little knob. I changed the selector to Semi-Auto Extended Selector Switch from DSA. I installed a SA58 PARA Extreme Duty Extended Scope Mount, FAL Rail Interface Handguard Full Length, YHM bipod adapter and Harris bipod, TangoDown vertical grip, Magpul grip rails, bolt-on cheek piece from DSA, ADM Recon-X scope mount w/ Millett DMS-1. I also change the Tapco SAW grip for a FN SAW grip from DSA. I also installed a inch mag release. I hope the pictures show up. I haven't shot it yet.

Might be a little hard shipping it from Iraq to the US so you can make it look like a trinket instead of a tool

Hawk,
She looks good!  I suspect You are going to like it!  And it looks good with the ARas well.  I really enjoy the AR15's, light, compact, accurate and easy to shoot.  But some time you just want that extra horsepower downrange and the feel of a full battle rifle and the FAL is the best in my book!

Carbines are "teh win".
This is a DSA STG-58 kit on an Imbel gear-Logo receiver. Dsa FCG, piston and safety. Original stg barrel was replaced with an Imbel on after the test fire was about 4 yards to the left at 25 yards. ARS built the gun. Shoots great.

Not that I'm thinking of using it myself or anything....

Here is a images of a FAL I build in 300WSM using a Winchester model 100 3 lug bolt that locks into a 3 lug barrel entension welded to a Centry casting, machined and then heat treated.  The Barrel is a Winchester heavy 26in stainless target barrel.  The handguard in a scratch built aluminum free floating handguard. The magazine had to be line with 16 ga sheet to keep it from buldging with the fat 300WSM cartridges. As a results, it is now single stack 8 round.

My 300WSM FAL shoots sub minute groups.  I am still working on getting 100% reliable feeding of that fat cartridge though.
