2,500 through mine without cleaning and still only 3 malfunctions.  The 3 malfunctions happened during the first 1.500 rounds and I attribute them to my hand on the magazine.

I was thinking about not cleaning mine and see how long it would run, but I won't be heading out to the range for a while and I don't like putting dirty guns back in my safe so I cleaned it up real good.
Like I said I have seen some reports on OTHER forums about concerns about light primer strikes.  To me from the pictures I took it is a bit lighter than other weapon strikes.  It doesn't mash the side of the casing like my P22 does.

maybe I missed it but can you just have the barrell cut and threaded 1/2 X 28 instead of going into adapters and such? I already have the can, just need the barrel cut and threaded. From the pics it looks like you could have the barrel chucked up..

ALL after the stamp arrives.....

nope.

The barrel is less than 1/2 in diameter on the outside.

Gemtech is making an adapter that screws in in place of the fake can.

I've seen something posted here and there is a post over at rimfirecentral about it.  They say they clean the weapon, shoot about 250 rounds, then they will start to get failures, maybe light primer strikes.  I don't know if it is because they are shooting really, really, dirty ammo or what.  I just thought I would post pictures of the primer strikes from my GSG-5 after it was throughly cleaned.  Just trying to help out.

Just got off the phone with gemtech. No word on the priceing of the permanently attached suppressor with a customer supplied GSG-5. BUT, estimated cost will be 7-800 dollars.

I shot half a box of 550 rds, and another 150 of premium ammo. NO malfunctions that werent caused by the ammo being a dud. AKA, 2 Fail to Fire's.

I'd have to agree that the metal look does have a better appeal.  I read how you spent some time making it fit.  It's impressive.  Still I would have to think the stock accessories fit without us messing with it too much,

After looking and trying railed handguards on mine, I decided to stick with the original GSG5 handguard. The main reason I got mien is to keep it looking like an MP5 and  doing all those mods to me make the beautiful lines that HK came up with go away.

they look cool with all the upgrades, BUT man, they look ultra sexy in there original form....i refuse to do any mods to my ak...and i realy love a stock ar15, but i dont have the money for another one yet, and i had to mod mine for compitiion, ect...

you dont need one, get snap caps...OR do the cheap way (and better if you ask me) use the brass casings after you fire them, just keep a few around, or in the end of the "special tool" that came with the gsg...

OR i could trade you  mine for the rear sight adjustment screw since mine did not come with one

or email GSG and ask them to send you one, they told me they are sending me a rear sight screw and nut..hopfully i get it soon!

If you need a peice, pull bullet, dump powder, insert and go bang, just a loud cap gun.

Took apart the clamshell today to try to diagnose the many malfunctions my GSG 5 has been experiencing and it seems one of the little lugs that indexes the barrel housing in the clamshell has broken off...

This in conjunction with one of the bolt housing screws that just fell out stripped (I never tightened or loosened it...came that way)......and the other stripped screw that fell out that holds the firing pin top plate in place.......AND with my bolt hold open no longer working.

I think it had something to do with slapping the cocking lever down like a real H&K MP5.

"The other small issue was that the cocking tube was peening slightly on the outside surface of the notch which locks the bolt back." - demigod review

So does that mean you should ride it forward when chambering a round?  I am considering buying one of these soon (if I can find one), and want something that can take some abuse from me.

No, don't ride it forward. Instead of slapping the handle down from the "locked" bolt hold, just pull it down and let it ride forward on its own.
The "locked" bolt hold is only used when you want to manually lock the bolt back.  It doesn't even get used when in normal firing use.  The empty mag will hold the bolt open, insert a new mag, and just pull back a little on the cocking lever and let it fly forward.

Does anyone know which part is actually considered the firearm/receiver by ATF?  With serial numbers on just about everything I'm not sure which one is it.  I assume it is probably the grip housing insert.

I think the receiver is considered the "2 part shell" with the magwell, not the actual trigger/grip/frame housing.  That is the way real H&K weapons are.  Also as stated in the GSG-5 manual.
If you are asking where to engrave for SBR, the only spot I could find was on the front of the magwell, if you can get it to fit there.

The name of the person or company doing the conversion and the city they are located in.

There are specific requirements on the markings.  Check the NFA forum for more info and read the ATF docs and get up to speed before you jump.  There are other restrictions you have to abide by covering things such as transporting the weapon across state lines etc...

Also keep in mind that some states prohibit SBR's so you need to know your state and local laws as well as the Federal stuff.

ya i have almost jumped on a supressor and an sbr before...then i decide not to, sometimes i think its more of a pain in the ass then its worth...

the original paperwork does not bother me, the price of the tax stamp doesnt bother me...it haveing to do additional paperwork every time i want to move it over state lines...and also having to check into the laws of anywhere i would want to take it...also having to do additional paperwork everytime i woul;d want to change addresses..pain in the ass!!!!
