Thanks for posting that 556cliff.

Adjustable gas system and chrome lined barrel are the only changes I heard or saw.

Whatever year it would be the most relevant? A year after that.

More interesting would be an explanation why they did not make it to the market last year, and why we should believe them that April 2014 is the date.

So Beretta will announce on Apr 1, "April Fools, ARX new release date is ________ (insert date TBD)".

I looked over the ARX100 at SHOT today and was very disappointed in several of the changes that have been made to this rifle vs older military versions.

One pretty glaring issue is the safety which is now essentially impossible to operate with the shooting hand on the grip. The shortened handguard makes no sense especially for a consumer market rifle. They also added some protrusions at the rear of the ejection port, presumably as case deflectors, but it's almost impossible to rack the charging handle without snagging those. The platform had a lot of promise but (in a pattern we've seen before) gets goofed up by the time it gets to market.

The safety change was made to appeal to US shooters who are more used to flipping an AR-style safety 90 degrees IIRC.

As for the shortened handguard, I agree it looks pretty dumb, but if they're really doing 9" barrels as well then that makes up for it.

If NFA is an option, although with the rule revisions ATF is planning, it may be that much harder to go that route unless you have the good fortune of living in a friendly county or city.

It's not just the change to 90 degrees, the activation force is now very high and the shape of the lever makes it impossible to apply any force to it with your thumb from a shooting grip.

If they're doing a pistol version they could have done it separately with a short handguard.

I think it's called pulling a Bushmaster...

Although I don't think it's quite at that level of fail yet, but give it another 60 to 90 days and it might just be.

Unreal that Beretta cheapened the rifle by going chrome lined instead of nitride as originally announced so I'm gonna pass on the ARX-100.

Once more they could of improved upon the frame of the rifle by adding QD mounts like the Tavor has.

My main problem with them going to a chrome lined barrel is them trying to make it sound like an improvement over what it was before and not lowering the MSRP.

It seems to me like they are trying to dumb down certain parts of the rifle to make it easier to sell to the dumb masses who don't understand what kind of features a true 21st century rifle should have.

Hard truth is that right or wrong, the market rules.

The market is heavily influenced by ex-military and they tend to buy what they carried.

Before WWI, lever action rifles ruled the market in America. Teddy Roosevelt used several big game hunting in Africa.
After WWI, the boys came home and bought bolt action rifles.
Even shooters in places with heavy woods and brush bought them.
Despite the fact that the BA rifle is by far the second best choice for them.
As a result, rifle caliber lever guns are, even now, almost dead.

Daddy carried a bolt gun, so I got one too now.
Daddy's black rifle had a chrome lined, 1/7 twist, M-4 profile barrel, mine will too.

Well, if that's the case, then I have to ask why 5.45x39 cal kit is going to be offered for it instead of 7.62x39 kit - or am I a market outsider on this?

Where did you here that the 5.45 kit is coming first?

Beretta already has the 7.62x39 rifle made and sold to other nations. In FDE no less!

Had no interest in the gun, thought that it was ugly. That was until I picked it up. This gun is freaking light! I will definitely pick one up this year instead of trying to build a LW AR.

I might pick one up too if they live up to their goal of releasing before Shot Show 2015

I think that's a lot of peoples' view on the gun... TTAG had a great line:
Despite having the silhouette somewhat reminiscent of a pregnant largemouth bass, the Beretta feels light and fast, and is incredibly well balanced.

I wanted one from the start, handling the military/LE version just made me want it more.

If they put an M4 barrel on the ARX I would probably be done with it.

The first straw that broke the back of the ACR camel was the 1 in 9 twist M4 profile barrel.
