Last night I finally got around to ordering the Trijicon nights sights for the Kahr CW.  Has anyone else gotten these yet??  I'm wondering what I have to look forward to as far as installing them??  Thanks

I would be interested also. Looking to replace sights on a P9.

Should be fairly straight forward with a P9 because the front and rear sights are both dovetailed.

I'm wondering about the front sight on the CW being staked.

Didn't realize CWs were different. Was thinking of how my M&P sights were a real PITA though.

i have not replaced the sights on a CW, but have read in the past that some milling to the slide might be required.  was not my cup of tea so i held out for a K9

The sights from Kahr made specifically for the CW series shouldn't require any milling.  I haven't done it, but there was someone, I believe in a thread about the CW45, said they did and it wasn't difficult.

I've done them; a complete set on a CW45 and the front on a CW9.
The factory rear sight on the CW45 very tight. I got it started with a sight pusher, but ended up using a brass punch and large hammer to finish the removal. I removed a small amount of material from the underside of the Trijicon rear sight and installation of it went much smoother.
The factory front sight on both guns was very easy to remove. Tape around the sight to protect the finish and snap the sight off with some pliers.

A quick video of how easy the front sight comes off: OEM sight removal

Then use a tool to remove the remainder of the posts from the holes in the slide.

The Trijicon front sight is held on by a small screw and Loctite. Installation was straight forward on the CW45: apply Loctite, install sight on slide, and screw down.

I did have issue with the sight screw on the CW9 preventing the gun from going into battery (this has been reported by others as well); well actually, it was bad enough to preclude assembly of the pistol. I was able to work around it by cleaning up and enlarging the countersink done by Kahr on the front sight post hole.

I like the sights.

Nice pics, Greg.

When you installed the front night sight on your CW9, did you have the order the whole set or were you able to order only the front?

Thanks!
I had ordered a complete set for the CW9, but after two weeks of no show I emailed about the status and was informed they were on back order for the rear sight. I asked about getting just the front sight and canceling the order for the complete set; the rep said no problem.
Cost was under $40 shipped.

Greg

Thanks for the pics, it really doesn't look very difficult.  I'm really bummed out about it, but I called earlier and cancelled my backorder.

I honestly didn't mind waiting on the sights being backordered, but what bothered me is the way they handled it.  I placed the order either Friday or Saturday night and received an email that they received the order.  By Wednesday I hadn't been charged for the order and hadn't recieved any notice of the order shipping so I tried to call 3-4 times and never got an answer.  I also sent 2 emails Wednesday and 1 Thursday and finally I got a reply Thursday afternoon that the sights were backordered and they were expecting to recieve new stock either the next day or the following Monday.  Well today being Wednesday I sent another email asking about the order and was told they have them in the next couple days or early next week.

I guess my main complaint is that I was never informed that they were backordered, when I decided to ask days later about my order it was a hassle to get a response from them, and instead of telling me they're not sure when they'll get restocked I feel like they were stringing me along with a generic answer.  I am grateful they didn't charge me for a backordered item and I'll probably check with them periodically and reorder when they have them in stock.

If you are not set on the sights from Kahr, Dawson Precision has night sights for "CW" series Kahr pistols:
Kahr Front Sights
Kahr Arms Rear Sights

Greg

I ordered a set of meprolight sights for my PM9.  After getting the smith to install them the front sight was dim.  Now, 2 weeks later there is no glow coming from the front sight.  The rear sight is fine.  I contacted Kahr, waited and waited for a reply.  Called them today and was told that I would need to contact meprolight.  Now I have contacted Meprolight through their website and I am playing the waiting game again.  Do not do like I did, not check them prior to installation.  I hope Meprolight has an office in the U.S.  Has anyone else has to deal with a warranty exchange with Meprolight?

It is also possible that the smith was too rough with the front sight and broke the tritium vial.
