Im looking to purchase a semi auto rifle soon and have been at odds with myself and others about weather to get an AR or AK. Still havent decided yet but i have some questions about the AKs. Ill be on a budget for this purchase so ive been pricing everywhere and found a few the look like what i want. Anyone familiar with Inter Ordance ? They look like what im looking for with the black composite(so i dont have to buy it to change out the wood stock). or CIA wasr hi cap ? any info or other suggestions would be helpful. Ill have about $1000 to get as much as i can(incl. ammo , red dot or scope.) Thanks for your time.

Have you shot both the AR and AK? They are completely different weapon systems. Most AR owners dislike the AK calling it crude and most AK owners call the AR overcomplicated. Personally I like both its like having two different hammers in the tool drawer one is more of a smaller hammer for accurate work and the other is more of a small sledge. Both will work when used as intended.

The AR is going to be much more accurate and have lighter recoil. TONS of accessories. The AK will if 7.62 be pie plate at 100 yards accuarate, or 5.45 softball accurate both with surplus ammo. If you get an AK, please appreciate it for what it is and don't put AR accessories on it that don't improve the gun. If you are going to put a red dot on it get an AR or a 5.45 AK.

ETA: One important thing to think about is that an AK is MUCH MUCH cheaper to shoot. Especially 5.45 as you can get a crate of 2100rds shipped to you for around $275.
