Sorry to get picky but I'm tired of buying used mags only to disassemble them and find them rusty inside. Is there a source for NEW quality reliable steel mags? TIA

There are new-production copies of Yugo BHO mags coming in from Croatia and Bosnia (Gibbs-Matra). The quality and reliability are reportedly very good but there have been a lot of reported fitment issues (particularly with the Croatians). The G-M mags do have a "no questions asked" full-replacement warranty, though.

I don't know of any other new-production steel mags being imported (aside from the Koreans).

New in the wrap from Whatacountry for 16.95 each. If you want new, this is the way to go.

Nice find!

In an ongoing attempt a proving me a liar, the Internet coughed up these in my inbox today. No idea what the quality or reliability are like, but another new-production steel offering (though those Hungarians would definitely be my first choice).

Looks like those Bulgarian mags are noted as having polymer followers. I wonder if the Hungarian's are steel or polymer followers?

They're advertised as NIW surplus, so they'd have steel followers.

Excellent, I trust you enough to have ordered plenty. Thank you for your help.

Received first order of the Hungarian's and they appear to be extremely well built, as good as the best steel AK mags I've seen. They have steel followers and are brand new in wrapper just as described.

They are not refurbs that have been repainted. I can tell the difference as I know what it looks like when you paint over grind marks, etc (perfomed during refurb to remove rust). You can always also tell on the inside if the paint doesn't match coating on outside.

One thing I do find strange is that there are not markings or any way to determine they are Hungarian or from any other country of origin. No big deal as I am happy with them.

If the sellers of these refurbished mags know anything about prepping thin steel that is corroded, grinding is just plain stupid. You use a wire wheel. It will not gouge the metal. What company sold these magazines with grind marks?

It was these...See how they show them as "new". Well they weren't new at all. Had serious grind marks all over them and some kind of cheap paint and had rust inside. Even had cheap plastic flimsy followers in them. They even tried coating them with cosmoline to make them appear new and sealed them in plastic. One I cleaned them up, it was obvious they were refurbs.

Damn, thanks for the heads up. I have ordered from CDNN a few times with out a problem. Nothing AK related. You should email them and let them know your whats up. I really like AIMs Polish mags although others have complained about fit issues. A couple of mine were tight fitting yet my WASR receiver ended that after a few reloads. Bummer AIM is out. I want 10 more!

Welcome...They allowed me to return them and denied them being refurbished. It's possible they thought they were new from their source. Once you clean all the cosmoline off, it's really obvious they were refurbished with new plastic followers and some cheap thick paint applied to make them appear as new. the grind marks were a dead give-away.

Congrats on being able to return to CDNN . They denied mine and sent it back to me even though they shipped the wrong item
