Newbie to AK's so forgive if this seems a "dumb" question!!!...

I live in Massachusetts (ugh!!)......

I just bought the Saiga IZ-132, and am having a god-awful time in this state finding someone to convert it to accept regular AK mags (cuz I naturally wanna use preban 30 rounders). One local "gunsmith" whom a few people recommended to me said he "couldn't find/didn't know where to find the correct bullet guide for it", etc etc...

So to make a long question (and story LOL) short, I'm wondering if I can just get preban high capacity Saiga mags for this rifle?? (instead of begging for a conversion here in the AWB hellhole I live in!!)

There are no pre-ban Saiga mags for anything. They were not made prior to Sep 1994.

Just send it to an AK Smith like ARIZONA RESPONSE SYSTEMS, Rifle Dynamics and there are many more that others may chime in with.

Ive never done it myself, but installing a bullet guide doesn't seem that formidable. You can probably do it yourself or, if your 'smith continues to him and haw, buy the parts yourself and just pay him to do the install. There are no pre-ban (1994) mags for the Saiga.

Saigas magazines use a bullet guide built into the magazine.

You could convert your Saiga and then used any number of AK magazines.
