I just got two Egyptian mags from Sportsman's Guide.  Both are excellent quality for surplus items, but look like they were repainted with cheap black paint at some point.  Neither have any markings that I can find and look identical to other Eastern European mags that I have.  Just wondering if Egypt made their own mags (Maadi???)  Their origin doesn't really matter to me, I was just curious since they looked so similar to Romanian mags.  You think they could just be miss-advertised Com-bloc mags?

My Maadi came with mags like that. It looks like paint even the AK was painted with it. Sounds legit.

The Egyptians made there own. I still have one of the sealed cases from Copes years ago

To identify a Maadi magazine with its original paint, just look for a few grains of sand in the paint.  I'm not joking. Every one I've seen has had this "characteristic".
