I bought one of these magazines and took it apart to clean it.
Russian Bakelite

The insides were pretty rusty including a lot of deep pitting on the spring.  I can clean the rust off but I'm afraid that the pitting is so deep that the spring could break.  Is it normal to find the inside of a magazine like this covered in rust?  Should I email the place where I bought it?

If I buy a new spring, are all AK47 magazine springs the same?

Total AK newb here.

Wolff makes good springs and with cyberMonday coming you may find good deals.  A 30 round spring will fit.

You could email the company, but most surplus is sold as-is. That said surplus can be a crap shoot too, within some being almost brand new and others looking like they were dredged from a pond.

If your Bakelite had the 10 round limiter I feel they had all the base plates in one pile and reassembled after modification without regard to matching spring/mag/follower...etc.

I figured that some surplus you buy would be dirty, rusty whatever and there would be no sense in emailing the vendor.
It did have a 10 round limiter that I took out.  I live in the relatively free state of Indiana.
I'll just order a new spring from Wolff.  Thanks.

You could try the vendor, especially if advertised as 'new or unissued'

Some where, someone has a nice spring with a beat up mag........

Message Bryan, sometimes he has an extra laying around, and AIM stands behind their products really well.

I looked at the ad again and it said the magazine would be in excellent condition,  which it is not by anyone's definition.  I sent them an email.

I heard back from Aim, they said I could send it back for an exchange.
