Are they? Looking to pick up some 20 rounds mags and came across them. Go for it or stay away from them?

For $12 I'd be willing to try one.... but Korean made mags pretty well suck. I unwittingly bought a Korean drum and had to spend a fair amount of time filing on it just to make it seat into the rifle.... from that point it did work.... but I can't help but wonder about the quality of the parts... the spring specifically.

I've read mixed reviews on the Korean mags.
A recent thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_4_55/155483_Korean__.html

I have a few of the 20 round mags from CDNN, they seem to be well made and fit fine in my Vepr. I haven't had a chance to use them at the range yet.

I have one but haven't shot it yet.  The metal is noticeably thinner but they're lighter.  I think they're also painted vs. blued or park'd.  They seem to fit the mag well great.

I saw a big box of Korean 20 round AK mags today at the gun show , blued finish and the same small pin prick spot welds. Like others said they are a gamble .

I have Korean 20 rnd mags, fit well, cycle well, feed well. No complaint! Metal is thinner, but AR mags are even thinner. Should outlast VZ58 aluminum mags as well. Only wish they have bolt hold open follower.

I don't see the desire for bho mags in an AK , wouldn't that just slow down reloads ? Sorry to derail the thread.

You are off topic in this thread, please don't do this.

No because you aren't adding any steps, you're removing two,  because the bolt locks back instead of moving back forward and then you pulling the trigger to find out you are now empty.  Remove the mag, bolt moves forward and reload normally.

Back on subject, I haven't heard anything good about Korean mags. I personally have some Hungarians that have been flawless. I have seen where people cave cut down cheap combloc 30 round mags to make inexpensive 20. If you have a Dremel,  a vise, and an day you're bored you can try that.

I have been hearing that the 20 round Korean mags are pretty good due to the shorter length the thinner steel keeps the mag more rigid.

Cant say for sure as i have never used a 20 round Korean mag.I might grab some when they go back on sale.

They would be perfect for my 3 SKS's that take AK mags

There's a guy over on AKfiles who offers this service. I don't know what he charges but the pictures of mags he's converted look well done.

I bought two of these Korean 20 rounders because they were 7 bucks at a gun show. They work well so far, probably about 100 rounds through each, not an issue yet. I keep them in my M92 for compactness and stuff. I think they may bend and dent if i went hardcore with them, but for range use and for 7 bucks it's not bad

Are they the shiny black ones or the dull grey finish Korean mags?

I have heard the shiny black ones are improved over the dull grey ones.
