I will admit my Google-fu is weak, but I have tried.  I came across some "Russian white box" x39 ammo, and I'm trying to track down some more information about it.

In short:

Headstamp has a 3 (which I gather is Ulyanovsk) at 12 o'clock, 94 (year of production) at 6 o'clock.

Generic white box, "Made in Russia," lead-core hollowpoint, "Made to Hunting Specifications," and claiming to be non-corrosive.  Case appears to be laquered.  Box has KNC (in Cyrillic, obviously), with a teardrop or crescent with a P in it.

There is no indication of bullet weight (that I can see, anyway).

Any ideas as to bullet weight and the accuracy of the "non-corrosive" claim?

My apologies for the lack of pictures.  I will try to get some up tonight.

think you'll find that the base of the bullet has a polymer plug

Perhaps "old" 8M3?  Would that make it 123 grain?  Some pics from a thread on akfiles seem to match up both the packaging and the ammo itself.

8m3 is 124gr.      Pretty sure ULY of that time period was 8M3. Easy to tell, look inside the hollow point, there should be visible little lines inside the hollow cone of the bullet, sometimes even visible  on the opening itself.  (You can feel inside the hollow point w/ a pin too to "feel" the lines)

They are there to enhance the opening of the hollow point. Just like on your typical pistol round hollow point w/ the visible lines on the outside, 8M3 has it on the inside.

Thanks - that appears to be it.  Couldn't see the lines (old eyes), but could them with the pin trick.
