I have a Ruger 10/22 Takedown for sale on a local board. A guy offered me 1,200 rounds of Yugo surplus brass cased 7.62x39 in trade. My gun is listed at $315. What is this stuff worth? I can't find it in stock to get a comparison price. Thanks!

I think it was selling for about 240 bucks a case and it was an odd count like 1260 rounds, also corrosive ammo but shoots well. I may be off a couple bucks but not by much.

If its an unopened case you could likely make a little extra off of it or at worst break even. Thats a good trade. Lots of people out there would be happy to pay $315 for a case of Yugo m67.

These crates sealed are going for $450+ on gunbroker.

I have 2 of them collecting dust waiting on a rainy day.

Best 7.62x39 round made.

M67 is hot, shoots very well, and was made to fight NATO and the Warsaw Pact.

It's legit fighting ammo.

During the peak of the gun and ammo scare I sold a few of my Russian SKS originals. The bids far exceeded my wildest expectations for that rifle. But, this M67 ammo was selling above the clouds. A couple of guys got $2000 plus for one case of 1260 rounds.
My buyer of one had plenty of money to burn. He missed a case at $2200. He asked if I may have any M67 as he heard it was real Military brass cased ammo. Told him I had a few crates full. Then he told me about the auction he had lost. Offered me $2300 for a case. I sold it to him for that. What the heck? I got called a hoarder by several over that. But, the stuff is not available now either. The stuff is worth what a very knowledgeable buyer may offer for it. But it is the real thing with that M67 bullet that was designed to tumble like or better than the Russian 5.45. Plenty of info available about the horrific wounds it caused in those Balkan Wars.
Even today, I have no plans on selling any crate of it. But I can say positively right now I could easily get $750 and up from collector and some of my SHTF friends I know across the country.

So, it is not only good ammo, but the best X39 made ever I and others think.

You can always buy another 10/22. Good luck in finding this ammo again on the market.

Agreed. I would expect to get $400 easily for it and it just keeps increasing in value, since the phantom shipment never materialized that was supposed to arrive the summer of '12.

no idea what a takedown 10/22 goes for. but I bought a 1260 crate of m67 in 2010 for $250 shipped
and a few of 1120 crates of it in 2011 for the same price shipped.

You done good. If you sell it you'll make money on it. If you keep it to shoot, you'll like it. As stated above, it's hot, corrosive (big deal), and military grade ammo.  There is very little muzzle flash compared to commercial ammo. You'll find the primer sealant all inside your gun after shooting. Just hose down the insides with WD40 after shooting and you're GTG.  Also, it's Berdan primed

Its great ammo and at that price you definitely got the better end of the deal.  If you do shoot it make sure you use water toclean your rifle and not an oil based product.  The corrosive salts used in the primer are water soluble.  Besides that, you are good to go.

Use Ballistol/water solution to clean the rifle after shooting and you should be fine...

Approximately a 10:1 emulsion of hot water:Ballistol. You definitely will be fine doing that - it is without question the best way to dissolve/neutralize the salts remaining after shooting corrosive. You should wash all metal parts of the rifle with it, inside and out, and give the bolt a good soak in it. I keep it in a spray bottle. I use nylon brushes with it for the bore, chamber, muzzle attachment, gas tube and recoil spring housing. A small paint brush is good for everything else. Don't forget the gas block and port.
After this, you can set the rifle aside indefinitely before using bore cleaner and your CLP, but to be totally safe, it's best to just let it dry out and follow up with straight Ballistol as the cleaner, lubricant and preservative. Its good for finished or bare wood and any plastic or rubber. Ballistol is the only thing I use on my FEGs.

Looks like M67 is hard to find right now, and its unknown if there will be any more. I saw some on GB in 300-rd packs for 30 cents a round.

I tried to sell some FTF in the WI/MN area for 400-450 and still have my two cases.  I guess people pay more in your area then mine.  Arms trader has many people selling this ammo (last time I checked) in the 400-450 range.  Not sure if there are many buyers at that price though.

I'd sell both of my sealed cases for 450 each.  OP, i think that you would do good on that trade for a Ruger 10-22.

It is not even getting bids anymore at $.30 a round. I think that the big run on M67 is over and it will settle back into the 25-28 cents per round range. I have found quite a bit of it lately and have not paid more than 25 cpr for any of it including my last purchase at 22 cpr last week.

Hang onto to it a bit, don't even try to sell right now. If any kind of Russian embargo goes through, you'll be able to get $500. for the case.- Seriously.

Wow, I totally would have bought another case for that price. I keep a couple thousand rounds of it around for long term storage purposes, but wouldn't mind some for shooting.

It's odd how people place differing values on things.

I'm finishing off the rest of my Yugo ammo stash, I can't seem to shoot enough of this stuff to get rid of it as quickly as I'd like to.  I only bought it years ago because it was cheap, before I realized how much I hate corrosive ammo.

As far as I'm concerned, it's cheap blasting ammo and I can't wait until my final couple hundred rounds are gone.  It's not worth the trouble to try and sell what I have left.

I'd have backed up a truck and cleaned the guy out at that price. Do you know who was selling it or was it just a local vendor?

That Yugo ammo is the best AK ammo to hit our shores, bar none.

Soon it will be unobtainium.

It will go for more on  auction sites.

During the 2013 panic crates were selling for $1000+ on gunbroker.

Russian ban happens, those prices will return and stay there.

This should be a sticky on what best to use after using corrosive ammo.  IMHO
