The tacked link to Maryland shooters group guide has been gone for a while. I have been unable to find a photo guide that was similar to the Maryland one, so I decided to make my own. Hopefully others will find this helpful.
Edit: I also figured some would like to know what is in this rifle, so I'm adding the specs. With the exception of the buffer and spring, that is exactly how I learned at Ft. Benning back in the early 80's.

Add more specific directions to the removal of the charging handle that it needs to be pulled down and out of the upper receiver once the charging handle lugs are lined up with the clearance cutouts in the upper receiver.

Seriously....this needs to be stickied in BOLD and used as a reference tool. Its EXACTLY what to do to field stip and clean this rifle. Probably the best one I've seen in a while. Def going to site this on other websites if possible.

After 3 1/2 years on this forum this post has given me the information & mostly the the "How To" in a series of very clear, easy to understand photos to disassemble clean and reassemble my bolt carrier group. This to me is the best thing since sliced bread. Now all I need is something this simple on lubing an AR.

i like it. nice pics and good looking gun. might point out lube points and check wear here now that it is tacked. the problem is the only guys that will not read this are the ones that need to. thread delivers.

You could document a "wet" (for non-dusty/sandy environment) and a "dry" (for sandbox) approach and refer to generic lubricants of use choice. Certainly nobody could complain too badly about showing the use of CLP/LP or even Mobil1 used in conservative and liberal amounts. The key would be the particular places to lube. Then the user could determine their preference for frequency and saturation level. You could almost just annotate the existing pix with a different color text... DON'T FEAR THE FLAMES! Great work. |

As an added reference, the NRA has a field stripping article in the latest issue (November 2009) of American Rifleman. Maybe it will be a useful addition to beavo451's excellent work. If not, mods can delete this post.
