The tacked link to Maryland shooters group guide has been gone for a while. I have been unable to find a photo guide that was similar to the Maryland one, so I decided to make my own. Hopefully others will find this helpful.

Edit: I also figured some would like to know what is in this rifle, so I'm adding the specs.
Mega Machine Shop upper and lower receivers
Mega Machine Shop charging handle
RRA LPK
KNS Gen 2 anti-rotation pins
BCM BCG (pre-markings)
BCM receiver extension
Anvil Arms 14.5" M4 barrel w/ pinned Saylors Machine Phoenix flash hider
Magpul MOE buttstock
Magpul MOE handguards
Magpul Enhanced Trigger Guard
Magpul MIAD pistol grip
Colt carrying handle and side sling adapter
Gear Sector GS-2P sling in pink!

With the exception of the buffer and spring, that is exactly how I learned at Ft. Benning back in the early 80's.

Add more specific directions to the removal of the charging handle that it needs to be pulled down and out of the upper receiver once the charging handle lugs are lined up with the clearance cutouts in the upper receiver.

Good idea. I'll try to do that tomorrow if I find time.

Lol. There is already a pictoral guide in the BIY forum for LPK assembly. I guess if I have time, I can do the FCG.

Seriously....this needs to be stickied in BOLD and used as a reference tool.  Its EXACTLY what to do to field stip and clean this rifle.  Probably the best one I've seen in a while.  Def going to site this on other websites if possible.

Tag.

I printed out a good portion of the Maryland AR15 How-to's and put them in a notebook.  It's an excellent resource.

Too bad they shut the site down.

Excellent! More clear than all the manuals. Can you do one on barrel removal?

Thank You!

There is a thread in the BIY thread that covers re-barreling.

After 3 1/2 years on this forum this post has given me the information & mostly the the "How To" in a series of very clear, easy to understand photos to disassemble clean and reassemble my bolt carrier group.  This to me is the best thing since sliced bread.  Now all I need is something this simple on lubing an AR.

+ 1 on a great resource ...

Kudos to beavo451 for taking the time to put it together, and for sharing it with everyone.

Also, since you're a Team member you should be able to access THIS archived thread from several years ago in which bigbore demonstrates his simple lubing method.  I thought it was very informative and quite helpful as well.

Fantastic thread, great job OP, it is much appreciated!

If possible, big +1 on the "How to lube" idea already posted.  I just bought my first AR Saturday, and I'm leery of cleaning it without some sort of guide.

I'm reluctant to do a lubrication guide because it seems to be a very personal and sensitive topic.

Still, a baseline for newbies would be great.  You could document a "wet" (for non-dusty/sandy environment) and a "dry" (for sandbox) approach and refer to generic lubricants of use choice.  Certainly nobody could complain too badly about showing the use of CLP/LP or even Mobil1 used in conservative and liberal amounts.  The key would be the particular places to lube.  Then the user could determine their preference for frequency and saturation level.

You could almost just annotate the existing pix with a different color text...

DON'T FEAR THE FLAMES!

Great work.

Very nice pics and guide!

As an added reference, the NRA has a field stripping article in the latest issue (November 2009) of American Rifleman. Maybe it will be a useful addition to beavo451's excellent work. If not, mods can delete this post.
