I currently have a FailZero BCG but my "lightweight" build is tipping the scales at 7lbs after adding in a heavier M21 optic.

Most of the weight is coming from the BCG and I have optic options already available to drop weight in that category.

What brands does this group recommend for a BCG that is lighter than the FailZero without having to go low-mass and, subsequently, have to start looking at adjustable gas blocks and tuning?

Thanks for the help, guys

Bill

I hate to say it but that doesn't really make sense... If it's lighter it will be low mass.  There isn't anything inbetween full mass and low mass.  No medium mass haha.  What you could do is adjust the weights in your buffer to make it heavier but then you're gonna be heavier regardless.  I say you just bite the bullet and get an 80 dollar adj. gas block.  Then you can also lighten your buffer which will take even more weight off.  Plus your gun will shoot much softer and better... It's a win win

Most everyone now is making the heavier m16 bolt. The Ar-15 only (semi auto) has some of the bottom back tail of the carrier removed and is a little lighter but not considered low mass. Here is o one that is non m16.

RRA bcg

here is a DD Ar 15 bolt

Mine had the key come loose. I repaired it myself rather than send it back. It's the only one I've heard of having an issue.

Staking was touching the top of the screws, but the screws were apparently able to rotate loose underneath the staking. I had to drive the front screw out with a couple light taps as it was actually captured by the staking.

Here is a picture of it after it came loose.
