Hi folks.
I need some links, or opinions about custom forward assists.  Are there companies making quality assists without having to set screw a cap on a plain one?
Thanks,
Rick

Forward Controls makes a couple of good F/A replacements, Aim Surplus sells them.  Steel, or titanium.

V Seven makes very lightweight models that are unique looking. They're roughly half the weight of a standard forward assist. I have one and am very pleased with it...

I may be bias as I have a slick-side Colt upper, but have you considered forgoing the forward assist completely if your goal is weight reduction?

Indeed, Aero Precision also makes uppers without the F/A that keep the port cover and brass deflector.

Or just run your forward assist upper without a forward assist botton. I run my empty so when I use my suppressor it lets the gas escape out the forward assist port instead of in my face though the charging handle. I've never used the forward assist anyway.
