Wanting a 14.5 in barrel with a permanently installed flash hider, but I want to be able to switch handguards without removing the muzzle device. What are my options other than the VDI Manimal?

None that I have seen, but its a decent setup.

I've built a couple of rifles using the barrel with the Manimal installed from the factory...works great.

Adams Arms Voodoo manimal  it in .748 or something like that. It is made so a .750 gas block slides over it.

He already knows about that one

However, I do like that flash hider.  It is what came on my pinned/welded Voodoo 14.5" manimal.  I built a 16" and a 16.5" using the same flash hider, though no pin and weld in those application.  I just liked the slim profile to match the slim pencil profile barrels I used.

Not to hijack, but what are your impressions of the 14.5" Voodoo Barrel ? Fit, finish, accuracy ?

If you don't mind the government barrel profile, the fit and finish is excellent.

I have no complaints thus far, solid shooter.

As far as fit of the voodoo manimal barrel, it and the finish are excellent.  As for accuracy, it's great.  However, I typically scope my rifles but this particular rifle has a Holosun red dot on it, so I can't accurately compare to say my voodoo 16.5" rifle length barrel.  But I can put 5 shot groups in a 1" center dot using the Holosun/voodoo Manimal barrel combination.
