Is there an upper receiver / handguard mechanical interface standard for the key tabs used to guarantee the upper and handguard are square?  I'm mating an American Spirit Arms upper with a Diamondhead handguard and the alignment tabs on the handguard interfere with the receiver.  Is this a common problem?  I'm guessing no standard and my solution will be to get out the old file.  Thanks for any info.

I believe it is called 'diy gunsmithing' ,  if it was always easy anyone could do it.

I talked to Diamondhead and think I've got my answer.  According to them, their alignment tabs are for forged uppers which tend to be thinner.  For billet uppers, folks usually modify or remove the tabs.  Makes sense.  No standard.

You might me able to file them enough to get it to fit. Removing them will work as well.

Yep I had to remove them on an extruded upper I used a while ago (the rail was not a diamondhead though it was another Mfg)
