I have a friend who is going to weld over my pin to hold my Manimal Flash hider in place.  It has a Melonite coating.  Are there any special consideration when TIG welding on a part with a Melonite coating?  Anyone know what heat setting to use?

Thanks,

Rob

Mine welded up fine.  After I drilled the hole, I took a larger bit to ream off some of the treatment.  Should be good to go.

Edit:  Maybe it's not the best/correct way, but it's what I have around the shop and it has worked for me.  Machine on DC, penetration, 250 output, 3/32" red tungsten (sharpened point), pure argon.

The machine maybe set high, but I have a thumb control, and as soon as I start it, it's hot and does it's magic.

Thank you for the response.  I've ground the melonite off
around the pin.  Hopefully I'll have this upper assembled in a week or so.
