Hi guys,
I just finished my first lower build with a mega forged lower, stag lpk, and bcm stock kit.

Im having trouble with the mag release assembly. It takes a lot of pressure to seat the magazine and when I press the release button the rod and paddle are moving around enough that its binding up and catching on the receiver. To be honest the stag lower kit all around doesn't seem all that great (it was missing a pin and I had to have rainier send me another, they rock btw) but all the other parts are at least functioning. Is this just cuz it needs to be fired and used or am I looking at out of spec parts? I swapped it out with the colt mag release and it worked fine on this lower. (phew!)  Anyway, id appreciate any insight you may have.

thanks!

Also, where the hell can I get a colt mag release assembly?

The Stag part sounds like it is out of spec. It may be impossible to find a Colt mag release assembly too. My suggestion would be to find a mag release assembly by another brand. That should fix the issue.

Since this is your first build, lets fist ensure it is done correctly.  The threaded part of the mag release should be screwed into the button just far enough that the end of the metal is flush with the outside of the button.  If it is screwed more it would increase the tension and make it hart to operate.  Do the mags seat and fall correctly when inserted and released?

I apologize if you have already checked this but I didn't see it in the replies, so I wanted to suggest it before you go ordering and swapping parts..

Yea I'm fairly certain it's just out of spec now. The rod and the paddle are not at 90 degrees to each other and I've  tried screwing it in further and loosening it as well. I actually found colt mag releases and buttons on some site but now I can't remember what it was lol. I'm sure they will turn up thanks for the help

If you have somebody near you that can check it out I would suggest having another set of eyes on it .

Second , it's possible the hole that this mag release rides in May have a bur or rough spot

I would just suggest ordering another LPK ( cannot hurt to have extra parts ?) STAG LPK should be decent , but you never know

Try DEL TON if you want to order some individual parts

Good luck
