I tried painting my lower with flat black paint but it keeps coming off!  To be specific I used multiple light coats of rustoleum spray paint but I didn't use a primer or clear coat.  The paint dissolves and peels when it is exposed to gun oil from the upper.  I don't want to pay out the nose for paint like dura coat but I want the finish to look presentable.  I am trying to match the surface finish to the same color as other normal black lowers.

Cerakote would be your best bet.

I powder coated mine using the harbor freight gun and the matte black powder. Baked in a used toaster oven.

prep is the key.  duracoat is easy to apply yourself.  youtube it to get a better idea if needed

I've heard of people having good results with brownell's aluma-hyde.  Not sure if they have black though.

You shouldn't paint it, you should Cerakote it.

+1

You can use the canned air if you are just coating one lower. If you have a compressor even better.

Forget paint.  Not durable enough.  I like Norrell's Moly Resin.  Resistant to almost every solvent known to man and a very durable finish.
