This is my first AR that I just built on a Del Ton lower and rifle kit. Very pleased with the results, nicest gun I've ever own, I've only had cheap carbines (AK, Hi Point.....) up to this point. Very reliable and quite accurate.

If the Cerakote is applied correctly it will look like the pic below in full sunlight . Honestly I think what your seeing in the other pics is camera flash and quality of the camera changing the color a bit. The first pics I took after I had it coated was with a cheap camera and it didn't do the work or color justice. If you like burnt bronze but would like something a little darker JFE has a new custom variance of burnt bronze called midnight bronze....completely bad ass color! CHECK IT OUT!!! Burnt Bronze in full sunlight |

Forgive me if my ignorance is showing, but I didn't think you were legally allowed to have a vertical foregrip on a pistol lower unless it was a registered SBR...? |

Well, here's my first....
Finally got my upper ordered this week, and it came in yesterday. M4 receiver w/ Wilson heavy stainless barrel & Yankee Hill TJ handguard...going on to my Rock River lower. Scope is Nikon's P223 w/600BDC reticle. Upper http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/myjeepsbigger/2012-04-26094528.jpg Gas key staked well. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/myjeepsbigger/2012-04-26094016.jpg M4 cuts smooth and line up well. Was pretty hard to get this pic to focus so close. Lighting makes it look like there is a lip on it, but there's really not. Kinda weird. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/myjeepsbigger/2012-04-26094139.jpg Lower http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/myjeepsbigger/2012-04-03102502.jpg (pic edited to wipe out the SN) Came home at lunch and put 'er all together. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/myjeepsbigger/2012-04-26122307-1.jpg Took it out last night to shoot. It broke in quickly.... (shoot 1, clean, repeat)x 5; (shoot 5, clean)x 1; (shoot 10, clean)x 1. By that time, it wasn't fouling much at all. I'd always heard the stainless barrels break in quickly (something to do with the copper not sticking to the stainless like it does the chrome lined barrels...dunno). Then I started dialing in the scope. Shooting cheapo American Eagle ammo for this outing. Once I got it tuned, was able to keep 1" groups easily at 100 yards (even with the garbage gritty, heavy trigger).... and I'm thinking this thing will print 1/2MOA with a better trigger and match ammo. Looking at doing a Timney trigger setup, and will be adding a BCM gunfighter charging handle, front sling swivel, and maybe a bipod. Primary use is Varmit hunting, so I'm really pleased with the results. |
