What's that on the top of the rail?  It looks liek ammo in there.

That's where the magazine goes on the AR57's, similar to other 5.7 caliber rifles from FNH

Just finished breaking in the barrel on this build, really liking the dpms upper.  Read a ton of reviews on how great spikes lowers are but I have to say I'm not extremely impressed with the finish, the fit is great, and functionality is spot on (which is what matters I suppose), but it seems like the slightest bump or ding scrapes the finish easily.  The finish on the upper was excellent.  Have shot a lot on friends AR's and after having an AK for some time, I had an itch to build an AR.  1st build let me know what you think.

Started with a stripped Spikes Tactical Punisher Lower Receiver
DPMS A3 Flat-Top Upper Assembly
DPMS Lower Parts Kit
DPMS Buttstock Assembly w/buffer
DMPS Ambi-safety
UTG Quad Rail (nothing special but price was right, decent quality imo, but not free float)
KNS Push Button Pivot Pin (excellent product)
VTAC Offset Picatinny Rail Flashlight Mount
Surefire G2 (nothing uber tactical, but gets the job done)
Vltor SASE Receiver End Plate Loop Sling Mount
Magpul MOE Pistol Grip, Trigger Guard, and Stock
Magpul AFG
Magpul XTM Covers
Magpul MBUS 2nd Gen Rear Sight
Windowed Magpul PMAG with Ranger Plates
The Outdoor Connection A-TAC Tactical Single-Point Sling (for 16 bucks you cant go wrong, super durable)

Here is my newest build - I'm thinking I'll go Mini SASS with it.  COASTAL can, Troy Battle Rail, Spikes lower, Saber defense upper.

But my baby is my DPMS 10.25'' SBR...

It has gone through many changes...  This was about 2 years ago - when it was still gas operated.

And this is the current configuration today - Adams piston kit, DD lite rail (fits perfectly around the piston block), and 1911 grip plate.

One big happy tactical family.

Love this one! What is your stock setup, I've never seen that little extension after the receiver, before the stock, what is it?

Here's my current one. Sabre upper mid-length, Sabre lower, Troy TRX Extreme 11", Troy lo-pro GB, Vltor Mod Stock, EOTech 512, Tango Down Battle grip, & Magpul BUIS. REALLY like the Troy rails. Very lightweight and slim with the ability to only add rails were I want them.

K, here's the new setup. A little heavy with the flashlight, but that only stays on while it's indoors. Just weighed everything - 9.6lbs...

And for you photo nerds, here's the lighting setup:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6165/6252158111_bd295c101e.jpg

For you eagle-eyed readers, yes, the flip-to-side mount is mounted backwards. I'm a lefty. Having the flashlight positioned there makes it real easy to turn on momentarily with my thumb, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a problem with those umbrellas coming unstitched on the spokes...

This is my carbine I just completed. With the exception of three parts(trigger guard, BCM charging handle and A2X flash hider), it's all Colt. Just finished pinning and welding the FH this morning. 6920 lower, A2 Colt upper with M4 cuts. Colt 14.5 M4 barrel. Test fire and sight in tomorrow. Yum Yum.

Added a few new pieces from Magpul, and one from Glock.  The "hand stop" on the MOE foregrip is a Glock subcompact finger extension.  I just drilled one more hole in it and used some screws, washers, and nuts, and this is how it turned out.

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/1954/dscn1862al.jpg

It works just as I was hoping it would.
